Intended Major: Cosmology
Age: Grade 12

Gaura has a NASA Merit Certificate and won first place in the International Space Science Competition. She is a joint secretary in the English Club and a vice president in the Nature Club. On top of that, she is a leader of the Assistant School Pupil in school. With these extracurricular activities at school, she was able to exhibit a wide range of leadership abilities.

What challenges did she face?

  • Gaura has a strong interest in cosmology and would like to collaborate with a professor who specializes in this field, but this was not an option at school.
  • Gaura was confronted with a number of difficult problems while working on the study paper, but this was overcome by making a question sheet that the mentor and Gaura shared regularly.

Matched professor:

He earned his Ph.D. at Cambridge University’s Institute of Astronomy, where he helped establish the groundwork for gravitational lensing research. Apart from his academic role, he is the editor of The Pantaneto Forum, an online journal dedicated to science communication, as well as the founder and CEO of Pantaneto Press, which publishes books in the physical sciences.

How did our program help her?

  • Gaura was able to write her research paper by learning more about astronomy and cosmology theories.
  • Gaura learned to utilize the HR diagram to explore the link between the absolute magnitudes or luminosities of stars and their spectral class or effective temperatures.
