Jeffrey Sullivan

Intended major: Political Science
Age during program: 11th grade

Political science, journalism, and history are three interdisciplinary disciplines that Jeffrey is passionate in. He participated in the Georgetown St Dept Program as a US Youth Ambassador to Belize, the Manhattan Borough Presidents Office in summer 2019, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a lobbyist for a Jewish political organization. 

At the end of the program, he received practical advice on ways to improve his work and portfolio.

Abhas Challa

Residence: Mumbai, India

Intended major: Public Affairs
Age during program: Grade 12

Abhas, who is interested in public policy, wrote a research article about interstate migration in India that won the ISSN Best Researcher Award. The paper was so highly praised that it is also published in the International Journal of Advance Research. He attended Stanford Pre-Collegiate Program in the summer of 2019 and wrote a research paper on the ethical decisions that stopped the Cuban Missile Crisis from intensifying.

At the program's conclusion, he completed a research paper that would later be published on Curieux (youth-led) Academic Journal, and he also received a positive evaluation from his mentor.

Bethan Chin

Intended major: Sociology
Age during program: Freshman student

Bethan wanted to improve her psychology, social psychology, cultural psychology, sociology, and marketing skills. She has stayed to several other countries and studied in three different school systems. These experiences form her project goal in engaging in a research that investigates cultural differences.

Ivy Li

Intended major: Medical Science
Age during program: Grade 12

Ivy is a medical student who wants to be a doctor. She has previous volunteer experience in the medical field, where she observed and assisted doctors. She has taken part in a number of Medical Science Summer Courses/Camps and this led to her growing interest in this area.

Felicia Qin

Felicia has a defined goal and research questions in mind before signing up for the mentorship program. She has a strong interest in science and technology. She is fascinated by society and the interplay of individuals, groups, and institutions.

Sonia Mai

Intended major: Art History
Age during program: Rising 12th grader

Sonia has a 4.03 GPA, which places her at the top of her class. Art history is her main academic interest. She has studied modern and ancient art history in art history classes.  As a president of the Art and Design Club in school, she enjoys creative arts and serves as a designer and contributor to a student publication.

Hector Huang

Hector is a curious student with a passion for politics, economics, and sociology. Last year, he had a great time in an Anthropology class at school, which inspired him to enroll in a Comparative Government course.

Audrey Chin

Audrey is used to learning online and has completed an online Independent Study course in Psychology at BYU in the United States. She is enthusiastic about psychology, but she required assistance with statistical analysis in order to write a professional research report.

Stella has a strong interest in psychology and would like to collaborate with a professional to write a research paper, but her school does not offer this opportunity. She is enrolled in an AP Psychology subject at school and has shadowing experience in a hospital at Beijing.

Anne's main research interests are interdisciplinary and interactional, as she aspires to continue immersing herself in diverse cultures while learning about different political and economic systems. Prior to this mentorship program, she co-founded a small business involving mental health awareness and self development with a classmate.
