Anne’s main research interests are interdisciplinary and interactional, as she aspires to continue immersing herself in diverse cultures while learning about different political and economic systems. Prior to this mentorship program, she co-founded a small business involving mental health awareness and self development with a classmate.
What challenges did she face?
- Understanding the key findings and filtering out all the unnecessary material from her study articles was difficult for Anne.
- Anne had a number of extracurricular activities outside of the mentorship program, and she had to juggle her schedule effectively to fit everything in.
Matched professor:
The mentor is an associate professor of psychology at Columbia University’s Barnard College. In the New York Times, she invented a mirror-based meditation that was dubbed “a revelation.” The National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Mental Health have financed her research on motivation, perception, and cognition.
How did our program help her?
- Anne learned to write so that she could present her case with facts and anecdotes. She learnt to read research articles and distinguish factual materials from opinions.
- She made significant improvements in her writings as a result of this mentorship. She put in a lot of effort to establish her credibility, and her mentor was pleased enough to write letters of recommendation for her.
