Amulya is interested in anything that has to do with biology. He received honors in biology in high school and competed in the Science Olympiad.

What challenges did he face?

  • His greatest obstacle in this program was drafting an academic-level paper as someone who had no prior experience writing academic papers.
  • Rather than simply reporting the available literature, he required mentoring to critically arrange and discuss evidence, articulate his point of view, and make critical discussion/conclusions about the chosen issue.

Matched professor:

The mentor is Brown University’s Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering. She is also the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society’s secretary.

How did our program help him?

  • With the mentor’s help, he was able to prepare a research paper on stem cell therapy for corneal regeneration.
  • He picked up some new terms relating to corneal regenerative therapy.
