# Charles Jiang

**Residence**: Wuxi, China**School**: Wuxi Big Bridge Academy**Intended major**: Physics**Age during program**: Grade 11

Charles is a self-motivated student who consistently goes above and beyond what is required of him. He is really interested in physics and is willing to work through any challenges that may arise.

**What challenges did he face?**

- He struggled with utilizing LaTeX to cite his documents in the first few sessions. He did, however, get the hang of it by the conclusion of the program.
- For his level, some of the mathematics in String Theory were extremely difficult.

**Matched Professor:**

The mentor is a postdoctoral research associate at New York University. His area of specialization includes Theoretical Physics, Statistical Physics, Data Science, Algorithms, Complex Networks, Time Series Analysis, Spectral Analysis, Machine Learning and Deep Learning.

**How did the program help him?**

- He was able to extensively explore into the field of physics, particularly in Gravity, Atomic Theory, Quantum Mechanics, the Standard Model, and String Theory, all of which he was tutored in at an undergraduate-level.
